Generation 6 Builds Overview

As promised, here is the additional post showcasing the builds for the generation. All of these can be downloaded from my Gallery – my user name is ThePlumbobBlog.  Now let’s jump in with Monty and Scarlet’s bakery:

The lot is a nice hangout place since it’s more of  cross between a bakery and a café. That being said, it was built before Get together came out, so perhaps a makeover with a barista style coffee machine and more treats might be on cards in the future.

5

For now, the selection only includes cakes, muffins and ice cream made by Monty and Yenn in the enclosed kitchen.

While it didn’t make it into the story, Monty’s long time business partner actually took over the original bakery building and converted it into a clothing store. The two shops are right next to each other and their respective owners would visit each other frequently.

9

Tylor actually used to have his own little studio in the store, perfect for a bachelor like himself. Though I wouldn’t worry about him, he did end up settling down eventually.

Liv’s bar became a huge success, attracting a number of regulars.

14

And of course the family members would come by often as well.

19

The upstairs became Liv and Heather’s apartment.

20

The residential portion of the building is quite simple.

21

After all, it’s the bar where Liv and Heather like to spend most of their time.

15

They even got married here.

Erica’s Old Home Revamped… Again

22

We’ve seen this house a lot over the generations; originally made for Erica and Daniel, it was also Chell’s family’s home and later became Monty and Scarlet’s home. The inside naturally got another revamp to suit their family’s needs.

23

24

Second Floor

I’ll only go into detail about the downstairs since the upstairs is pretty basic.

25

The kitchen is a bright and clear area, to provide the illusion of more space – much needed in a household of six!

26

The living room/music room is one of Yenn’s favourites.

27

Speaking of Yenn, her room is naturally the one filled with the old family photos.

28

After all, she’s still the family’s historian.

The Bloomer Legacy: Interlude – Unexpected (Generation 6)

Some people have their lives all planned out. Take my parents, for example. They started a family as soon as they got married. Two kids, a perfect family unit.

2

In the meantime, their bakery business prospered and built up a good customer base. Everything was perfect for them. Predictable, but perfect.

3

Then there’s people who act like a bit of a loose cannon, a wild card, like my uncle Tylor. He’s had all kinds of pursuits over time.

4

Even though he secretly only had a single on one his mind.

5

But when the one thing he wanted finally materialised, he managed to have it slip through his fingers before he even realised he had it.

6

Life has a funny way of catching up with you that way.

7

Then again, the great thing about life is that everything you do puts a whole other set of events into motion.

8

Events that might finally break another person’s streak of bad luck.

9

Sure, some people consider the saying about one door closing and another one opening a cliché.

10

But I’d say you can find a handful that would beg to differ.

11

And the circle doesn’t end there.

12

One good thing can set off another…

13

…but I’m sure you get the idea.

14

I guess what I’m trying to get at is that whether you have your perfectly planned out life, or whether you are just going with the flow, some things can’t be predicted. Even in the lives of the predictable ones.

15

One minute, you’re following your everyday routine…

16

…the next, your entire world turns upside down.

17

And believe me, I know this better than most.

18

After all, it’s how I came into this world. Unexpected.

19

But why dwell on the past… I’ve got my whole life ahead of me.

Since at least one of my brothers needs to complete their aspiration and reach the top of their chosen career before I can officially take over as the newest heir of Newcrest, I’ve got the luxury of freedom for now. I can do as I please, start a new life, in a whole new place…

20

… a place where I can be a whole new me.

Author’s note: The wedding venue where Newton got married was built by aryannehawker and can be downloaded here. Rumour has it that Newton was not the only famous sim to get married here.

The post also shows glimpses of Monty and Scarlet’s bakery, their family home and Liv’s bar – I’ll be doing a separate post with more detailed tours of the lots for those of you interested in the building aspect of the Build Newcrest challenge soon!

Update: Where are the Bloomers?

I posted this on the forums but I realise not all of you might be active on there, so here’s a little update on the current situation:

I just wanted to explain the mini hiatus the story has been on and also let you know a bit more about my future plans. Just to preface this, there are many exciting changes on the horizon and the story will continue, though the break will need to last a little bit longer. Thank you so much for your patience and support, it means the world to me!

There are a few reasons why I haven’t updated in a while. Most importantly, I’ve been crazy busy with both work and personal life, so I honestly haven’t had much of a chance to write. Hopefully things should calm down now, and I can’t wait to get some simming and writing done over my Christmas break.

Secondly, I must admit I haven’t been finding this generation all that interesting – the successful lineage goal is a bit of a dud in my opinion, especially given that this generation doesn’t have much of a building task to justify it either. I haven’t been into playing through it all that much, and writing about it would probably be even less thrilling. That’s why, as much as I love Monty and Scarlet, there will be quite a bit of a time jump in the near future…

Basically, there will only be one more chapter this year, and this will also be the only generation 6 chapter. We’ll tie some loose ends and catch up. We will then head on over to Windenburg with the new heir in the new year. I realise this is a pretty unorthodox move, especially considering this is a Build Newcrest legacy – definitely my biggest deviation from the rules as of yet. That being said, I do intend for this move to only be temporary, and we will eventually be returning back to Newcrest to continue with the challenge. But in the interest of keeping this fun for myself, I really need to get Windenburg out of my system.

The last contributing factor of the lack of updates have been a couple of technical issues with my blog, as the images were not displaying properly on Apple mobile devices, so I was reluctant to post anything until I got this sorted. Hopefully everything should be back to normal, but if you do experience any issues with the picture quality, please let me know.

Once again, thank you all so much for reading and the Bloomers should be back with you very soon.

The Bloomer Legacy: 5.30 Unlikely Friends

Once again, all of the Bloomers and their extended family gathered at the wedding venue Yenn had once built. The place has seen been the place to start off the joyous matrimony of Chell and Knox, as well as the catastrophic marriage of Newton and Mara that had the shelf life of a fruitfly.

2

But Scarlet and Monty didn’t worry about that. They’d been in each other’s lives for long enough to know neither had any intention of going anywhere.

3

As the couple were saying their vows, Newton slipped in at the back of the room.

Liv smiled at her friend: “You came! I thought you might… I’m glad you’re here, Newton.”

4

“I wouldn’t miss it,” Newton said simply.

“My boy’s getting married, can you believe it?” Liv shook her head.

“You’ve raised a man Liv,” Newton smiled.

5

Liv was not the only emotional one. Yenn and Booker spontaneously hugged right after the ceremony. The two of them had never been terribly close in their younger years, but the long-lived siblings have been through so many things over this years this almost felt like another lifetime. They’ve both lost and gained a lot over the course of time, and found a new appreciation for one another.

6

Not to mention, even more unlikely friendships have formed…

7

“Wow Janet, the baby is coming any day now, isn’t it?” Liv said, amazed.

“It sure is,” Janet nodded. “We’re really excited, of course, though a part of me is wondering if I can do it all again.”

8

“Don’t worry, you’ll be great,” Liv smiled. “You’re a wonderful mom. And you have Mal, He’s capable of practically anything.”

“Good point,” Janet laughed, looking over at her husband affectionately. Liv turned her attention her attention towards the same direction, surprised by the unlikely trio of Malakai, Newton… and her father?

9

“What are you boys up to?” Liv sat down at the table.

“Ah you know, I was just learning from the youngsters,” Booker grinned.

“Make no mistake uncle Booker, we’re not the youngest generation anymore either,” Newton pointed out.

“True,” Booker nodded. “I remember watching the three of you play on the pirate ship behind our house back in the day. And here we are now, at our Monty’s wedding. Then again, how much has really changed? The three of you are still best friends, maybe even closer than back then.”

Liv’s eyes immediately shot to Mal and Newton, but both of them were smiling and nodding. Perhaps it wasn’t quite as simple as Booker described, and there were a couple of hiccups on the way. But the bottom line was there, they were there for each other, friends once again.

10

A younger trio of friends was reminiscing on their childhood as well, though the newlyweds can’t keep their eyes off each other.

“I should give you guys some space,” Tylor stood up as Scarlet purred at Monty.

“Ah please, we just agreed to spend the rest of our lives together,” Monty shook his head. “We’ve got plenty of time. Let me buy you drink, Ty – if you’ll excuse us for our last men’s talk, Scarlet?”

“Yeah right, like your bromance will ever end,” Scarlet smirked. “I know what I signed up for. You boys go ahead.”

11

“So, how come you didn’t take Arjuna to the wedding?” Monty asked as their drinks arrived.

“Turns out, she was cheating on me,” Tylor said matter-of-factly.

“What? Are you ok?”

Tylor shrugged: “I’m fine, really. I have no time for cheaters. My dad cheated on my mom, and she’s been broken ever since… until she met your dad.”

12

“So what are you gonna do now?” Monty asked.

“I might just play the field for a bit,” Tylor grinned. “I mean, some of the ladies that shop at the bakery are pretty fine… Not to mention, if I focus on the store more now, it’ll give you two lovebirds some honeymoon time.”

“Thanks man,” Monty beamed. “You’re a good friend.”

13

Malakai sat down with Heather for a moment: “So, how are things going with Liv? Are we going to be attending your wedding any time soon?”

“I doubt that,” Heather laughed uncomfortably. “We’re taking things slow. I don’t want to pressure her…”

“Give her time,” Malakai said. “She does care about you, you know. She gushes about you all the time.”

14

“She does?”

A grin spread across Heather’s face.

15

The part was nearing its end, and the newlyweds made it quite clear they were ready to head off. Liv seemed inappropriately excited by it all.

16

As they were making their way out, Liv and heather stumbled upon a sleeping Malakai.

“Hey Mal, wake up,” Liv shook his shoulder gently. “The party’s over.”

17

Malakai looked around, slightly dazed: “Our boy is all grown up, isn’t he?”

“He sure is,” Liv smiled.

“Well, I’m going to find my bed. And my wife. That’s right.”

Heather and Liv laughed as Mal walked away.

“You want to sit down for a moment?” Heather gestured towards the bench, suddenly more serious.

18

“Liv, I just wanted you to know that I’m in no rush,” Heather started. “I like where we are, and I completely understand that you…”

“Would you like to move in with me?” Liv interrupted.

“Wait, what?”

“I’m at the top of my career,” Liv explained. “I can finally open the bar, so I’ll be converting the ground floor of our house, and will just keep the top floor into a small apartment. It won’t really be big enough for my whole family to live there, so Monty, Scarlet and aunt Yenn are moving to the house next door. But… it would be big enough for the two of us.”

Heather was speechless.

19

“Oh, and by the way, I did catch what you said over at the Garden of Eden the other day,” Liv said nonchalantly. “And I wanted you to know that I love you too.”

20

Yenn was the last person left at the property.

“Ethan,” she looked at the grave next to her. “Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you. I wish you could see all the things that are happening. Our little Monty is not so little anymore, married and ready to start his own life as a successful business owner.

And Liv, I’m so proud of her. She’s finally taking charge of her life. Taking a risk. Opening that bar she always wanted to have. And taking a plunge with a really nice lady.

I do wish you were here so that we could share it all. It feels so strange sometimes, that it’s just me.”

21

“But you know what? Life is good.”

The Bloomer Legacy: 5.29 Announcements

“You mean it’s actually a real store now? “ Scarlet looked around impressed.

“Complete with walls,” Monty grinned proudly. “And I even made profit yesterday.”

“I’m so proud of you Monty,” Scarlet choked up. “I may have been sceptical at first, but you were right all along. This bakery has a future.”

“It really does, doesn’t it?” Monty’s palm was sweating as he reached into his pocket. “And I hope that so do we.”

2

Scarlet’s eyes widened. For a moment, she just watched Monty kneel in front of her: “Woah, you really weren’t kidding with that promise ring, huh?”

“Um, is that a yes or a no? Because my knee’s starting to hurt,” Monty pointed out.

3

“Of course it’s a yes, silly!”

4

The couple shared their news with Tylor over at the Lollipop Lair the very next day. Turns out, Tylor had a bit of an announcement of his own.

5

He introduced Monty and Scarlet to his new girlfriend, Arjuna. For the first time in his life, Tylor was smitten.

6

Unfortunately for him, Arjuna was seeing not one, but two other men on the side. Naturally she forgot to mention that part when she agreed to go out with him.

(You’ve outdone yourself this time around, EA story progression. Ugh.)

7

Monty and Scarlet had their suspicions about her; for starters, the first thing Arjuna did when she met Monty was throw a pickup line his way. But Tylor was blissfully unaware, and he seemed so excited about his new partner that Monty and Scarlet pushed the nagging feeling aside. They figured she was probably perfectly nice.

8

Still, they didn’t end up spending as much time over as they had initially planned, and bode their goodbyes after a mostly quiet dinner.

9

Elsewhere in the Lair, more announcements were made.

10

“This is so exciting,” Malakai enthused. “I can’t believe we’re going to be parents again!”

I can’t believe I forgot about the morning sickness,” Janet groaned.

11

Liv was busy practicing the latest mixology trick she learned whilst taking advantage of the large bar over at the Garden of Eden Gym and Spa.

12

“You’re pretty good at this Liv,” Heather smiled.

“One would hope, I have maxed out the Mixology skill,” Liv smirked.

“I’m just teasing. You know I love all of your creations just as much as I love you,” she blurted out before she could stop herself.

13

Liv, however, didn’t seem to notice the slipup.

“It’s a pity that this part of the gym is the closest the town has to a bar,” she said. “But that’s about to change soon… I’m only one promotion away from finally being able to open a bar of my own!”

14

“It’ll be grand,” Heather agreed. “Though this isn’t too terrible. I mean, we have a stunning view up here. Not to mention, the fact we’re in a gym means we have some additional facilities…”

15

“Ok, I see your point,” Liv chuckled.

“I’m not sure you do,” Heather said playfully. “Let me reiterate, just in case…”

17

Apparently having a bakery in an actual building is a recipe for success (pun intended). Monty and Tylor’s Treats have never been as popular.

18

Meaning that everyone had to lend a helping hand. The family started a rota always making sure to have one baker and one sales person in the shop, whether it be Monty and Scarlet, or Tylor and Yenn.

19

Much like Scarlet usually persuaded any man to buy the least masculine looking dessert with a bat of her eyelashes, Tylor was quite popular with the female customers.

“Sweet treats for the sweetest ladies,” he ventured in with his regular technique.

20

Except that this time, it didn’t seem to work.

“Seriously? I mean, don’t you have a girlfriend?” the girl glared at him.

“A little compliment never hurt, right?” Tylor tried to wiggle his way out.

21

“I’ll still buy the cake, because I know it’s the best in town,” the girl shrugged. “But you can sweet talk me into it. You should be ashamed.”

“Oh, I get it! Sweet talking, nice one!” Tylor laughed.

The girl just rolled her eyes and left.

22

The girl did have a point though, Tylor thought to himself as he was leaving the shop after his shift. He did have a girlfriend he was crazy about, so why play games and pretend that wasn’t the case?

Monty and Scarlet were taking things pretty seriously, and perhaps it was the time for him to do the same. He’d tell Arjuna that he loved her as soon as he got home, he decided.

Little did he know that he was just about to find Arjuna with another man.

The Bloomer Legacy: 5.28 If You’re Serious…

Monty’s bakery was up on a rise. Sure, it was still not more than a camping table and a cash register, but the goods never stayed on the shelves for too long. Monty had a hard time managing to restock everything. He poured most of his energy into his business, heading over there every day after school.

Though of course, it wasn’t all work. Having Scarlet as a co-worker was quite the temptation…

2

“We better get to work Monty,” Scarlet sighed. “We haven’t sold a single pastry today!”

“Just one more kiss,” Monty negotiated.

“You said that earlier,” Scarlet giggled. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying it as much as you are, but there’s more to life than making out…”

“I know,” Monty grew serious. He reached into his pocket…

3

“You’re pretty amazing Scarlet, and I’m not just saying that because I want you to make out with me some more. Well, I do want you to make out with me some more, like… for the rest of our lives. Well, not now, but… someday.”

“You’re not making any sense,” Scarlet interrupted. “What are you…”

Monty simply slipped a ring on her finger.

4

“Is that a… promise ring?” Scarlet’s eyes widened.

“I just wanted you to know that I’m serious,” Monty grinned sheepishly.

***

Over in Willow Creek, Newton’s love life was a lot more complicated. He had been on a few dates with a woman called Monica. He showered her with kisses and compliments…

5

…she showered him with hate and insults. Mean by nature, Monica was easily annoyed.

6

And so, after their third date, they decided to part their ways for good. Newton was left alone, once again.

7

As he wallowed and contemplated what drink he should choose to soften the blow of yet another failed attempt at love, the realisation dawned on him… What are you moping about, there’s plenty of pretty girls around?

8

“Hi ladies, can I join you for a dance?” he approached the group of young women awkwardly. Had it been anyone else, they probably wouldn’t even get acknowledged. But of course, being Newton did have its perks.

9

Girl 1: “Oh-em-gee! You’re Newton! The Newton!”

Gril 2: “Of course you can dance with us! Hopefully they’ll play one of your songs!”

Girl 3: “can I get an autograph?”

10

The girls were all over him. Each of them wanted to get just a bit closer, make him laugh just a bit more, impress him with her moves more than the others…

Girl 1: “Have I mentioned I’m your biggest fan, Newton?”

Girl 2: “Hey, that’s not true! I’m his biggest fan!”

Girl 3: “As if!”

11

Ultimately, the girls got so distracted by fighting over Newton they all ended up storming off, too angry at one another. And Newton…

12

Well at least he got an idea for his next big hit, Forever Alone.

13

Monty’s young adult birthday came around quicker than anyone expected. He picked up the family oriented trait, and his aspiration was changed to Successful Lineage, the generational requirement.

But that didn’t mean he left his enthusiasm for his business behind. If anything, with his school days now behind him, he was ready to focus on his store full time.

14

Yenn: “Well Monty, if you’re really serious about this bakery business, I can help you.”

“You’d do that? But how?”

“Well, for starters, my level 10 cooking and gourmet cooking skill point might come in handy,” Yenn smiled.

15

“Not to mention, maybe the bakery could use some walls.”

16

Soon enough, Monty had a proper business on his hands.

17

And with a real business come customers! So many paying customers!

18

Sure, running a business might be tiring. But it is so worth it!
