The Bloomer Legacy: 3.22 Discoveries

Chell wasted no time and got started on her painting. No time to catch up like now. But painting was just a start. She still remembered her mom’s lesson from Granite Falls clearly, and she couldn’t wait for all the discoveries awaiting her.

2

Meanwhile, Yenn used the computer game trick her sister taught her and skilled up in motor and creativity skills instantly.

3

Having completed the Whiz Kid aspiration, it was time for Yenn to take up Booker on his offer and join him at the playground.

Yenn: “Race you to the end!”

Booker: “hey, how did you get so fast?! You didn’t have a single motor skill yesterday!”

4

Booker: “I’ll still beat you! I’ve worked hard to become good at this, not like you and Chell with your fake skills!”

5

Perhaps he has a point; whilst Chell was supposedly physically gifted, she was still struggling with yoga.

Lilah: “Don’t forget, breathe in and out deeply honey!”

6

Chell: “Wooaaah!”

Booker: “What are they doing, Yenn?”

Yenn: “It’s yoga! Apparently we’re too little to try it yet. Silly, huh? I reckon we have way better balance than Chell!”

7

Booker: “I can’t wait to be big enough to try! You know, you and Chell have your nerdy sciency stuff, and I’ll probably never max up my mental skill, but I’ll definitely have a go at all sports!”

(Yes, I’m grooming Booker as my heir. But nothing’s set in stone yet.)

8

Chell: “Thanks for the yoga class mom! I’m sorry I’m so crappy at it!”

Lilah: “Don’t worry, Chell. Nobody’s born perfect. I know this drives you crazy not to excel at something, because you’re a perfectionist like me. But you’ll get there. You and I, we’re the same, we work on a skill till we master it to perfection. That’s what the trait is all about, persistence.”

9

Yenn: “Oh, hi! As you can see I’m getting started on the Artistic Prodigy aspiration now! Maybe I CAN do them all! Although I still refuse to talk to strangers.”

10

Booker: “Cheeell! I don’t wanna do homework!”

Chell: “Come on, Booker, the better grades you get, the less time it will take you to do homework. Think of all the extra time you’ll have in the playground!”

11

With Yenn’s birthday only a day away, Lilah and Peter can’t put off the dreaded talk any longer.

12

Yenn: “So… I’m adopted? Does that mean you like my siblings more than me?”

13

Lilah: “Of course not sweetie! We’ve loved you just as much ever since you entered our lives. It just means that you have a richer past, and, if you want, two sets of parents. If we get on your nerves when you’re a teen, you can always remember that!”

14

Now that she knows who her mystery godparents are, Yenn plays the violin for Cassiel and Baato. She wonders if they’d be proud of her if they could see her.

If you ask me, they should be, since she’s just completed her third aspiration, making her mentally, physically and creatively gifted!

15

Being a loner, Yenn didn’t want a big party, so her birthday is not a large affair.

16

Chell: “Now Yenn, just because you didn’t have a go at the social butterfly aspiration doesn’t mean you can’t go for it as a teen. Maybe it’s time for you to meet some people outside the family?”

17

Yenn: “Maybe you’re right!”

18

Yenn rolls the genius trait, which I’d say is well deserved. She has also become alluring – looking at her I definitely agree with that! As for her teen aspiration, by the looks of it she may have taken her sister’s advice in…

Yenn: “Ok, fine, I’ll meet new people. Maybe even woo them a little. As long as I don’t have to have them around forever…”

Citizens of Newcrest, prepare to have your hearts broken! Yennefer is an aspiring Serial Romancer.

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.21 The Aspiration Race

Watch out, the Bloomer siblings are coming!

Booker: “To boldly go where no man has gone before!”

Aah, seeing the combination of Lilah’s adventure seeking and active nature combined with Peter’s loveable geekiness makes me so proud!

2

Booker has grown up to look like a slightly more tanned male version of Lilah. He is a perfectionist and an aspiring Rambunctious Scamp, making him a prime candidate for the next generation’s bodybuilder gym-building heir.

3

Although Chell might give him a run for his money after all. It turns out you can max out your motor skill purely by using the computer. As Chell has achieved her Whiz Kid aspiration, she moved on to the the rambunctious Scamp one and maxed out her motor skill using Cathy Tea’s Arithmetic Attack trick. She was able to reach her second aspiration thanks to this in no time!

Having used the corresponding Keyboard Commander shortcut, she has also maxed out her creativity skill and is now working towards completing the Artistic Prodigy aspiration.

Note: I have discovered that it is not necessary to stop at level 9 – having the appropriate skill maxed out will still do the trick in rapidly gaining skills whilst playing the games above. This glitch/Easter egg is insane!

4

Chell: “Must. Paint. Faster. Birthday. Is. Coming.”

Yenn: “You can do it sis!”

5

Meanwhile, Booker is working on his aspiration the good old-fashioned way, out and about, on the monkey bars.

6

Success is all around for the Bloomers these days it seems…

Peter: “You got a promotion? Me too!”

7

Adventures of Captain Duckhorse have reached an all-time high, and Peter is now considered a Best-Selling Author. Only one more level to go until he’s reached this generation’s task!

Meanwhile, Lilah has become a Regular Contributor over at Sims’ Health magazine. Since her career and aspiration have no effect at the generational task, I have been able to take a much more relaxed pace with her. In fact, she didn’t even have a formal job until her and Peter got engaged. I think I’ll have her pursue the journalist branch for a bit of variety.

8

Yenn: “Booker! The big day is here! Chell’s growing up! What if she doesn’t want to be my best friend anymore?”

Booker: “Then I’ll always have a spot on the playground for you!”

9

Chell: “I haven’t managed to achieve my third aspiration. I guess I’ll never be creatively gifted. I pass the torch on to you Yenn, you can do three… or all four, even?”

Yenn: “What, me? I can’t be faster than you! And there’s no way I can be a social butterfly… you know I don’t like strangers!”

10

Yenn: “I think you’ve done great on the aspirations sis!”

11

We threw a proper party for Chell and invited all of the Agustins over, but not a single soul showed up. I guess the younger Agustins are way too busy with their love lives. At least we have everyone in the immediate family celebrating with the firstborn. At least the cake wasn’t a lie.

12

Chell: “This is so exciting! So much to see and do! Discovery awaits! But, if I’m to do something, I better do it right!”

13

Chell has become a perfectionist, just like her mom and her younger brother. Not having been able to complete the Artistic Prodigy aspiration as a child must be really bugging her, as she’s decided to pick Painter Extraordinaire as her teen aspiration.

She got herself a cork board and a new filing system to track her progress. Let’s see if she can manage to complete this one by the end of her teen years!

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.20 Speed Dating with the Agustins (Part 2)

Time for the Agustins to spend an evening with the date of their choice. Skylar greets Audrey with a compliment – he’s so smitten!

2

Next up are Amelia and Kaylan.

Amelia: “You dressed to match my dress! How thoughtful!”

3

Emery: “Let’s do this!”

I’m not too sure what pearl is thinking. Hopefully she’s not having second thoughts?

4

And last but not least.

Jenny: “I’m here!”

Amos smiles at her approvingly. He seems happy with his choice.

5

Look who else we’ve bumped into!

Lana: “Life is great! I don’t need Skylar. There’s so many other eligible men around.”

Like Grim Reaper?

6

Audrey: “Now this environment is more my style! A classy place, a classy man, and his undivided attention!”

Audrey seems transformed. Maybe the quiet mysterious woman act was just a strategy. Worked a treat. Because let’s face it, she had Skylar’s undivided attention yesterday already.

Side note: Who is the bearded hottie and why have I not seen him before?

7

Skylar continues to gush over Audrey for the remainder of the night. Yawn. What else is new?

8

It appears Pearl is quite the dancer with her suave sexy moves. Emery has definitely noticed!

9

He joins her on the dancefloor, in spite of his moves being a bit more underwhelming. Pearl adapts to his style quickly though. Only the truly graceful dancers take it down a notch for the benefit of their dancing partner.

10

Pearl: “Look at you and your swagger, mister!”

If that’s not flirting, I don’t know what is. Because it certainly isn’t true!

11

Meanwhile, Kaylan’s casual dancing (it can’t be his looks, surely) seems to have attracted a female fan.

12

Amelia notices the random girl dancing closer and closer to him: “Why don’t you come to me, Kaylan? A little slow dance maybe?”

13

Amelia: “I’m so glad you didn’t ditch me for that woman!”

Kaylan: “What woman? I only have eyes for you.”

14

Amos: “Jenny, you should probably know that I sometimes talk to myself. There’s so many different mes that they need to have a good old discussion at times. But I’m not crazy. Really.”

The random girl at the bar seems to disagree.

15

Jenny lets that information sink in for a while. The cocktail helps.

The couple are joined by Kaylan and Amelia at the bar. And it looks like they’re holding hands! Aww.

16

Meanwhile, Pearl continues to dance seductively, probably thinking that Emery should man up and do something…

17

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

Emery gets a whim to ask Pearl to be his girlfriend immediately afterwards. She must be an excellent kisser!

18

Amelia: “Look at them kissing! I want a kiss too!”

Very mature Amelia! I thought you were meant to be a genius…

19

It seems to have worked nonetheless! Hopefully Kaylan’s chin doesn’t get in the way too much…

20

The two couples that have kissed already rejoice at the bar together. They all feel so relieved tings went well they can’t seem to stop laughing.

Skylar watches them with apparent jealousy.

21

He finds Audrey and asks her to come outside with him… to watch the sunrise.

22

Skylar: “Audrey… I knew you were special from the moment I saw you. So I wanted to make this moment special for you, with the rising sun and…”

Audrey: “Just kiss me already!”

23

That works too!

24

The new couple look into each other’s eyes as the first rays of sunshine hit the town.

25

Amos: “So, Jenny, are you still interested in me even though I’m a bit of a weirdo?”

26

Jenny just plants a kiss on his lips in response.

27

Jenny: “I think I like weirdos…”

And that concludes our quadruple date. Phew!

The lots used for the speed dating and for the one on one dates were the Museum of Fine Arts by dracifer and the Sun Club by simnopsis.

Once again, big thanks to all who donated their sims for the speed date!

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.19 Speed Dating with the Agustins (Part 1)

We interrupt the regular scheduled programme today to bring you a speed dating feature on the Agustin siblings. The last time we visited Daniel and Erica’s house, the triplets had just aged up into teenagers. But here we are, with 4 young adults in the Agustin family, and all of them looking for love.

(And yes, we’re letting them leave Newcrest for this one. Since they’re not officially a part fo the legacy anyway. In fact, I shouldn’t even be playing them. But shh…)

Before we get started, let me do a quick overview on the hopeful love seekers, from left to right:

Amos, the good art lover, was the one to inherit Daniel’s insane trait. Just like with Daniel, it didn’t hit until adulthood. I guess it had to happen with one of them…

Skylar, the creative and squeamish big brother appropriately rolled the bro trait. That will go nicely with his party aspiration.

Emery has cemented his tortured artist position – he loves art and music, but like many artists he gets gloomy often.

Amelia, the token daughter, is a creative genius. However, by the looks of it she has no desire to make anyone carry on those good genes, as she now also hates children.

Let’s hope each of the Agustins will be able to find someone to spend the rest of their lives with today (no pressure). They have 12 sims created by other players to meet, so let’s get cracking!

2

Emery: “Ok then, let’s pretend this is a natural situation… right… either of you like arts or music?”

Clare, who is sitting further away answers first: “Well, I want to become a famous writer one day, so I suppose you could say so…”

The girl with the pink hair barges in: “Oh I love music! Especially at parties! I do have a creative side though! The name is Lana, by the way!”

Emery is intrigued: “Really? A creative music lover? We sure seem to have a lot in common! So what kind…”

Lana: “So where is your brother Skylar? I was hoping we could party together!”

Emery: “Never mind…”

3

Shiew, who is here to represent the Blancs, seems rather taken by the hunky Ethan, nodding enthusiastically at everything he says. I can’t say I blame her!

4

Amelia: “I can’t help but notice that you two seem to have spent the whole morning together. Are you guys a couple?”

Shiew: “We most certainly are!”

Ethan: “Wait, what?”

5

Waiting for the Agustins to have time for you can become quite boring. Lana and Pearl bond over the colourful hairdos. Meanwhile, Amos seems to be bonding with Jenny…

Jenny: “I’m not really all that special, I just love all the good things in life. You know, the outdoors, the good food, the creative outlets… I want to experience it all fully!”

Amos: “I like the sound of that! Living life with vigor! People tell me I have a bit too much vigor sometimes. Like my dad… but I keep it under control for the most part.”

6

Hey guys, you do know that the point of this is to get to know new people, not spending quality time with the siblings…

Skylar: “I don’t know what you’re talking about! We’re all talking to Audrey. Because she’s just amazing!”

7

When Amelia finally stands up, Ethan quickly uses his chance to approach her: “Amelia! I just wanted to tell you that, about earlier, I really don’t know that girl! She’s definitely not my girlfriend…”

Amelia: “I hoped you were here to meet me! We should probably get to know each other a bit more, what… Woah! Look at that chin!”

Kaylan: “I’m glad you noticed! It’s a Turpis family feature, I got it from my mother.”

8

Ethan: “You see, Amelia, I really am just looking for the one, that special person to spend the rest of my life with. Many people I meet tend to not pay attention to my personality because of my looks…”

Kaylan: “I have the exact same problem!”

9

Amelia laughs: “So what is there to know about you Kaylan? Are you also looking for your one true love?”

Kaylan: “Well, love is great, I guess. I’m not really sure if I ever want to have a family though. It’s a bit overrated. My mom barely ever made time for me… Not to mention, I can’t stand children!”

10

Amelia: “Oh my gosh! Me too!”

Well that’s unexpected…

11

Jenny seems to be the light of the room, with her penchant for enjoying life to the fullest. Everyone’s listening to her story. And yet, Skylar can’t seem to take his eyes off Audrey.

12

“We haven’t really had a chance to talk yet,” the girl second girl with the colourful hair smiles at Emery. “I’m Pearl!”

Emery smiles back: “Nice to meet you! I like the colour of your hair! It reminds me of the way I feel about life sometimes.”

Pearl: “Blue?”

13

Emery: “Life is full of beauty, but we all also carry tragedy in our blood…”

Pearl: “Oh my plumbob!”

I can’t tell if she’s taken aback in a good or a bad way…

14

Amelia: “Um, excuse me? I thought perhaps we should talk, given that you’re the only guy I haven’t met yet…”

15

Eric: “Can’t you see I’m trying to concentrate? Ugh!”

Amelia: “Oookay then…”

16

Skylar: “Audrey! Are you leaving? The night has only just started!”

It’s rather obvious who Skylar has picked. He’s following Audrey like a puppy.

Amos is just returning back inside from a quick chat he had with himself. Who else would be a better love adviser, after all?

17

Scarlett: “Soo, who are you betting on, Raha?”

Raha: “Well, Audrey and Skylar are pretty much a done deal. And I think Amelia likes the ugly guy. Mark my words…”

18

Amos: “Ladies! Are you making bets on our love lives?”

Scarlett: “It’s just a bit of harmless fun!”

19

Raha: “Well, what do you expect us to do to entertain ourselves? You’re not paying any attention to us! I took this speed dating session seriously!”

20

Yes, seriousness is the approach we have here… not! Kaylan and Amelia spent most of the night running around together and laughing at people. How nice…

21

Amos: “Jenny, I haven’t met anyone who enjoys life as much as you do! Will you be my date for tomorrow?”

Pearl: “What is there to be enjoyed… life is so fleeting!”

Poor Pearl still seems to be bummed out from Emery sharing his melancholy thoughts.

22

Emery swoops in to fix things: “I’m sorry if I burdened you with my thoughts Pearl! I didn’t mean to. I just felt like I could really open up to you!

But there’s an equal portion of misery and joy in life… so why don’t we focus on the latter together – tomorrow night?”

23

The wee hours of the morning. Having recognised that Skylar only has eyes for Audrey, Lana decides to spend the rest of the night productively. With blick block. Clare takes it to a whole other level and has a little snooze.

27

Amelia: “I’m sorry that my brother didn’t pick you, you seem like a nice girl.”

Lana: “It’s ok, I’ll stick around for a bit anyway. See if there’s anyone else I could meet…”

24

Everyone is exhausted after spending almost 24 hours on the lot, so coffee consumption grows high.

Skylar and Audrey remain inseparable, of course, even though they don’t seem to be saying much. Audrey has actually been really quiet all day. Not that Skylar cares, he could stare at her for hours. I can’t decide if that’s creepy or romantic.

Kaylan joins Pearl and Emery: “Guess what guys! Amelia chose me as her date for tomorrow!”

25

Raha: “Called it!”

Scarlett and Raha may not have found a man, but it sure seems like there’s a friendship on the horizon.

26

Everyone calls it a night after sunrise. It’s been an intense one.

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.18 Best Friends

With two kids in the house, it was time for a bit of a re-shuffle in the Bloomer residence. We extended the kitchen to make it ideal for those bonding family meals, and turned the remainder of what used to be Peter and Lilah’s bedroom/office into an office only environment, or writer’s paradise, if you will. Though the kids are welcome there at any point too!

2

Upstairs. We added a corridor (equipped with skill building objects) and divided up the rooms to create a new master bedroom where Isaac and Ruby’s office used to be. We also somehow managed to squeeze in 3 kids’ bedrooms: a nursery, since Peter and Lilah are still trying to have a second biological child; Chell’s room fitted for discovery in the middle and Yenn’s room at the back.

3

Speaking of Yenn, here she is all grown up, cute as a button. I was pleased to see she has Baato’s blue eyes and blonde hair, although the actual shape of her eyes and lips might look more like Cassiel’s. It’s hard to tell at this stage.

An honorary picture of her parents is displayed in Yenn’s room, although as far as she’s concerned, they are simply her godparents who live far far away. It’s going to be a tricky conversation one day…

As for her traits, I did the initial roll based on Cassiel and Baato’s traits, though the next one will be based on Peter and Lilah’s. Yenn ended up getting Cassiel’s loner trait (it could have been a lot worse!).

She looks up to her big sister Chell, so she wants be a whiz kid just like her.

4

Family breakfasts are a time for sharing news in the Bloomer household:

Lilah: “I’ve been to one of the most magical worlds I have ever seen through meditation last night! There were ruins and natural pools… it felt like the future! I can’t wait till you kids are old enough for me to be able to take you with me.”

To be honest, Lilah rarely ever travels to her magical getaway worlds anymore. There is so much going on in the house, and she gets to see so many new things in her kids every day she rarely feels the need to escape these days. But when she does, she makes it count.

5

Another morning…

Peter: “The new Captain Duckhorse adventure is ready for publishing! Captain Duckhorse is going to Sixam! And guess who gets to read all about it first?”

Chell: “Me me me!”

Yenn: “No, me!”

Peter: “You both do! I got two copies ready for you to read before it goes off to the publisher. You be the judges, it’s not getting published without your approval!”

6

Yet another morning…

Lilah: “Guess what girls? You’re both going to be big sisters! Mommy has a baby in her belly, and soon you’ll have a younger brother or a sister that you get to show the world to!”

7

Yenn: “So how do you think the baby got into mommy’s belly?”

Chell: “Hm… she must have eaten it I guess? More importantly, how is it going to get out?”

Yenn: “Maybe she’ll just have to wiggle her plumbob a bit. Or maybe they’ll use a crane-like machine to pull the baby out!”

Chell: “You mean like a claw machine? That sounds scary!”

8

Yenn and Chell spend a lot of time together since they are working on the same aspiration. And even when they aren’t together, much of what they’re doing is not all that different. Only a thin wall separates their experiments.

9

But they both like to unwind from a hard day of science with a relaxed session at the doll house.

10

It’s no surprise the sisters become best friends.

11

Meanwhile, Peter and Lilah are hard at work in their office. While Peter focuses almost exclusively on children’s literature with his Adventures of Captain Duckhorse, Lilah likes to write motivational books about self-improvement through yoga, meditation and exploration.

Although the piece Lilah is the proudest of has to be her book From a Fatal Weenie Roast to the Love of a Lifetime (and beyond) – a true story love story of Isaac and Ruby.

12

To follow Isaac and Ruby’s suit, the couple try to still find enough time to maintain the flame (though let’s face it, they’ll never be as lovey-dovey as Isaac and Ruby were… but I can’t blame them, those two are hard to live up to!)

13

Peter and Lilah each work one of the weekend days, so they each get to spend a day with the girls on their own. Being the sports enthusiast she is, Lilah decides to take this as an opportunity to teach Yenn how to swim.

(I had no idea this was an interaction! I do wish it was slightly more fleshed out, but beggars can’t be choosers I suppose…)

14

Soon enough, both of the girls are splashing around with no help!

15

Lilah: “Girls! The baby is kicking! Would you like to feel it?”

16

They absolutely do! The two can’t wait to expand their little group (mainly since I’ve done a poor job at finding any other kids their age they could befriend in the neighbourhood…)

17

Chell: “What do you think the baby will be like?”

Yenn: “Who knows… I hope it’s blue!”

Chell: “I’d prefer purple!”

18

When it’s Peters turn to look after the kids, they all stay indoors and geek out over games. Because a family that plays together stays together.

19

Peter watches his two little ones with a satisfied grin on his face. With so much Lilah in both of them, he’s pleased to see they take after him too.

20

And soon enough, there’s a third child to coo over. Meet Booker, named after Bioshock Infinite’s Booker DeWitt. The game’s storyline is easily my favourite story of any game out there… although I’m still in denial about the DLC – Burial at Sea never happened! (Geek rant over…)

21

The girls both got a positive New Sibling moodlet – so far all Bloomer children have adored the new additions to the family. I wonder if it’s random or if it’s because I always involve the kids in the pregnancy, share the news with them and have them feel the belly, so they are ready for the new arrival…

Yenn: “Look at him all bald and funny looking!”

Chell: “Don’t worry, he’ll grow out of it – you did!”

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.17 Adventurers

Chell woke up full of excitement. This was the coolest weekend of her life. For starters, she was in a tree house!

2

She ran outside on the balcony and looked around hopefully. What would today bring?

3

Her father emerges from within the treehouse: “Come on Chell, let’s have breakfast. We have a busy day of adventuring ahead of us!”

Needless to say, Chell cannot wait.

4

As they hike through the woods, Chell looks up to her mother. She is such a bold explorer, and amazing in every way possible. In Chell’s eyes, no woman is smarter, prettier and braver than her mom.

5

Little does Chell know that Lilah looks at her with the same pride and admiration.

6

Peter calls the girls over: “Look what I found, looks like a mysterious path leading deeper into the woods. For once, I was the one to discover something new!”

7

Lilah: “Well Chell, why don’t you go ahead and lead the way?”

Chell: “Me?”

8

Lilah: “Don’t worry honey, we’re right behind you.”

9

Soon enough, Chell is running miles ahead of them.

Chell: “Wow! Look at this!”

The huge grin on the little explorer’s face is the best sight of the day for her parents.

10

As Chell runs towards the epic scenery, Peter looks over to his wife: “You knew about this place, didn’t you? That’s why you let her go first.”

Lilah smiles with a nod: “There isn’t an inch of Granite Falls I haven’t seen. But look at her, so excited. This way it’s all new, and the discovery was hers to make.”

11

They reach the epic water mass that has given Granite Falls their name, even though it’s not seen by any of its visitors.

12

Lilah leans over to her little girl: “You see that, Chell? If you can only take away one thing from this trip, try to make it this – the solid proof that good things come to those who are not afraid to follow their sense of wonder.”

13

While Chell runs around, the couple saviour a little moment. Peter grabs his wife’s hand nd looks at her lovingly:

“You’re such an amazing mom Lilah… maybe we should have one more.”

Lilah agrees. She had thought being a mother would change her, and it did, but not for the worse. She’d realised that kids didn’t mean she would have to let go of her traveller spirit, they would let her discover even more through their eyes.

14

The family roasts a modest dinner of hot dogs by the nearby camp fire, and they return back to the tree house.

15

Chell and Lilah play a round of chess before bedtime. It’s been an inspiring day, so peter tries to get some writing done in the meantime. No, wait, looks like he’s just checking his email:

Peter: “Ooh, I got another email from Jaxen! Says he has a crush on an athletic girl called Bliss…”

Lilah: “You mean Bijou…”

Peter: “It definitely says Bliss. Actually, it sounds like he’s in a different place altogether – a city in the desert that has been overseen by the same family for 6 generations…”

Lilah: “Looks like he’s moved again! Who knew Jaxen would become such a traveller!”

Chell: “Or maybe he’s in two places at the same time!”

Peter and Lilah chuckle. “Perhaps that’s another possibility,” Peter smiles at his daughter.

16

Chell claims she’s going to bed afterwards, but there is no sleep for those who want to learn. Not when she has a chemistry kit in her room!

17

So much to discover in so many ways! Chell makes a mental note to ask her parents for a kiddie lab set when they get home.

18

While Chell experiments away, Peter and Lilah get started on baby number 2.

19

Sadly, the following morning Lilah finds out that they’ve failed to conceive. Possibly not being able to have a second child makes her realise how much she’d wanted one.

20

Peter: “Oh Lilah, don’t you worry. It will happen for us, sooner or later.”

21

Try sooner! When the family gets back home from their trip, there is a baby on their front porch.

Lilah: “Look at you little one! Who brought you here? Who are your parents?”

Peter can’t help but beam when he sees his wife with the baby. Then he notices something in the crib.

22

A picture of Cassiel and Baato, in a place he doesn’t recognise. There’s a short message at the back of the photo:

Once a family, always a family? Give her the love I didn’t have in me, so that all of this was not in vain. –C.

23

There was no indication of a name anywhere. Since Peter and Lilah were to raise the girl as their own, they’d also name her as their own. And so Yennefer joins the family, getting her name after the Witcher 3’s powerful sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Behind the Scenes Special – Lollipop Lair

My gameplay and my story largely consist of 3 main components: What I know my sims want (i.e. actions based on their aspiration and whims), what I think my sims want (based on the way the react to situations and other sims, their traits and the things I’ve learnt about their personality) and the things my mind comes up with when I get carried away and let me imagination run wild. That’s how the Lollipop Lair sub-plot was born.

It all started with Rorygilmore34’s Meatballs. They seemed like very interesting characters (and very easy on the eye), so when she offered them for download for side-stories, I grabbed them of the gallery immediately. And then they sat in my library for ages, because I didn’t really have a place for them.

Until evil cousin Cassiel became too intriguing (and too beautiful) to not have a story of her own and my twins both aged up dastardly and mean.  This was also around the time when my favourite slave got banished from tribe Arayeo, and it just clicked in my mind. I asked Julyvee94 if she’d let me borrow Baato and she was very enthusiastic about the idea, though she didn’t know what I had planned for him exactly.

The idea of Baato becoming Cassiel’s slave and a woohoo toy was something I intended to happen from the start of the side story. However, when the two actually sims actually met in game, I was shocked at their amazing chemistry. Yes, I initiated the first romantic interaction, but everything else that followed hit like a storm. The two were constantly being autonomously romantic and it was just great to watch. This was also at the time when Peter and Lilah’s relationship was very hot and cold and awkward, and the contrast just screamed to me.

Then came the whole shebang with the Lollipop Lair bust. Since the purpose of the Build Newcrest challenge is settling in the new city of Newcrest due to the other worlds being too crime-ridden, I couldn’t have really let the Lollipop Lair gang get away with their plan. Especially not since Isaac became the chief, and I highly doubt he would have missed such a huge conspiracy just a few houses down the street from him.

The twins having to leave Newcrest as a result was the only logical scenario stemming from the whole situation. Luckily the timing worked out in their favour and they were able to find a lovely new home in iheartdinosx3’s Belle Legacy. They seem to be flourishing in that story and get way more attention than I ever gave them, so I’d say things worked out well for them. Fun fact – I originally intended for Isaac and Ruby’s third child to be the heir. The twins made that one rather problematic!

Some of you have been curious about the logistics of Cassiel’s arrest and prison break. If you don’t want to break the magic and immersion, please skip the next two paragraphs in italics and carry on where the font becomes normal again:

Of course it would have been ideal if Cassiel was just marked as the suspect by the game, but that was not the case. I had to stage the entire arrest, and what I mean by that is that the sim arrested and interrogated was actually not Cassiel at all. I used the cas.fulleditmode cheat to modify the suspect the game generated for me to look as much as Cassiel as possible, and placed the Lollipop Lair house on the lot where Isaac was intended to issue the APB. Funnily enough the suspect did go to Cassiel’s office on her own, so all I had to do was follow.

Cassiel’s prison escape was manufactured in a similar fashion, where I edited one of the prisoners to resemble her as much as possible. I also got to get Baato into the detective career for a couple of days to stage this, which he thoroughly seemed to enjoy. Last but not least, to get a couple of the remaining shots, I also moved an extra pair of Cassiel and Baato into the police station build, which is how the final bits of the escape were staged. I probably had approximately 5 Cassiels and 2 Baatos running around my game by the end of it (and yes the two Baatos have met!).

Cassiel and Baato’s love story after the escape… that was such a tough one for me to get through. They were my favourite sims at the time and an amazing couple, and breaking their hearts broke mine a little too. The reason for their story ending the way it did was two-fold:

  • It did not feel right to keep Baato in my game. Since he has been such a central character in the story of tribe Arayeo, something seemed wrong about keeping him in my save with Cassiel until they both die of old age. He always belonged back with tribe Arayeo, and his role in my story had to end at some point. I stretched it out as long as I possibly could have, but in the end it was time for him to return home.
  • I admit that a major reason of the development was purely selfish. Because Cassiel hated children and Baato had commitment issues, I knew that their story could only be a happy one if they didn’t have any children. I’m a generational player and I didn’t want their story to die with them, so I selfishly chose to have them try for a baby. I now have a little piece of both of them, right in the Bloomer household. I do feel very guilty about it, so rest assured their daughter will be spoiled rotten.

I know a lot of you probably feel bad for Baato, and a part of me does too, but another part of me knows that he’ll be just fine back with tribe Arayeo. While it is sad he will not get to see his child grow up, in his culture no slave would even dream of getting to see their child, let alone holding it. He was actually quite lucky to get to meet his daughter, albeit briefly.

In the grand scheme of things, what Cassiel did was probably kinder to the child. She is an evil loner that hates children, afterall. I can’t even imagine how she would have treated the girl – best case scenario she would have ignored her in the big mansion of theirs. Also, it is worth pointing out that while Cassiel could have sent the baby anywhere, she chose to send it to a family that she knew was loving. I think that says something.

Last but not least, I’d like to take a moment to talk about Lilah. Both Peter and I fell in love with Lilah’s bright personality the moment he met her in Granite Falls. Seeing her sense of wonder and the fact that she worked as a yoga instructor made me think that she’s a bit of a free spirit, and I think I got that right.

The relationship between her and Peter was exactly as portrayed in the story – at first they were just friends with teenage Peter in awe at everything she did, then they became romantic as she first came to Newcrest and it was all very sweet at first… but then it turned rather hot and cold, with her suddenly becoming distant and awkward with him.

I think this may partially be due to the fact that I left the Bloomer household for a few sim days to play Erica and Daniel, and Peter and Lilah’s relationship was only in the initial stages at the time, so my absence may have deteriorated it a bit. But perhaps Lilah’s nature really had something to do with it.

Lilah’s struggle with settling down and working out a way she could remain happy in Newcrest is something I can personally relate to a lot (unlike her obsession with wellness, fitness and healthy living), so writing her side of the story came very easily to me, and made me like her so much more.

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.16 Villain Interlude (Part 2)

Cassiel and Baato were lounging by the pool together. Cassiel was trying to take all of it in, hold on to each tiny memory of him. It could be the very last moment she was to have with him. It’s been over 24 hours since Baato received his old tribe’s message, and she knew he had to decide what to do soon.

“I’ve made my decision,” he broke off the silence, as if he had read her mind. “In your tribe, the men don’t get sacrificed or banished when they have produced a child… for instance, Daniel has bred with Erica several times and he was very much around their children.”

“Yes, that’s true,” Cassiel confirmed nervously.

2

Baato: “It seems clear to me that I must stay here to fulfil my duty to the heiress then. To be a presence in the child’s life, as is customary for your tribe.”

Cassiel squealed with joy. If any of her accomplices saw her now, they would never take her seriously again. She jumped up and down, and soon enough, so did Baato – her happiness was contagious.

3

Once again, all was as it should be in Cassiel’s world. Well, all but the baby on the way.

4

Cassiel grew bigger and bigger rapidly. Baato was astonished at the sight. Sure, he had seen pregnant women before, but this was a part of him growing inside Cassiel.

5

He was absolutely certain the baby would be a girl, and that she would be amazing. He got the room ready and liked to go to it sometimes, anticipation spreading through his body.

6

Cassiel, on the other hand, grew more and more grim and distant as her belly expanded. She hated the thing, the parasite taking over her.

7

She would box until she couldn’t take the pain anymore, wanting to get the damn creature out.

8

The feeling was mutual, seems the monster wanted out too.

9

As Baato anticipated, Cassiel gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl. As soon as the birth was over, the new mother walked straight out of the room.

Baato was right there though, taken aback by how perfect the child was.

10

The creator heiress, he smiled. No slave Baato had heard of was ever able to see and hold their own child, and here she was, in his arms.

He was bursting with love, and couldn’t believe he was so lucky to be able to see his daughter grow up and become the leader she was destined to be. He wondered what Cassiel would name her…

11

Naming the child was the last thing on Cassiel’s mind as she watched the thing with disdain. It kept crying and wanting and needing… how could anyone ever cope with these hideous beings?

12

It was obvious to her what she had to do. All it took was a call…

13

Baato was taking a lazy nap when Cassiel’s visitor arrived. The timing was perfect.

“Forgive me,” she whispered to the sleeping man as she walked past him to go get the child.

14

Seeing is believing, thought Tony as Cassiel emerged in front of him, with a screaming baby in her hands.

Cassiel: “It hates me… I guess that makes us even. Take the thing off me…”

15

It was not the first time Meatball’s talents had been underused in utilising him as a glorified babysitter/package delivery man. He sighed. Probably not the last time either.

The child calmed down a bit in his arms, although it was still crying a little.

“Shush, little one,” he said gently to the girl, “it’s not so bad.”

16

As soon as he woke up from his nap, Baato went to check in on his daughter. The crib was empty.

Baato: “Cassiel! Where is the baby?”

Cassiel: “I sent it away, Baato. I’m sorry, I had to. I couldn’t stand it.”

Baato: “Sent away? What do you mean? Where is our child?”

Cassiel: “I had her taken to Newcrest. They’ll take care of her there.”

17

Baato: “You mean the Newcrest that we are not allowed to set foot in, thanks to you? How could you do this?”

Cassiel: “Don’t you understand Baato? She’s going to have a good life there, much better than what I could have given her. She would have grown up with me despising her, while the Bloomers will take care of her every need. Don’t you see it’s better for her that way?”

Baato just walked out of the door. Cassiel ran straight after him.

18

Cassiel: “Baato! Where are you going?”

Baato: “I’m returning to tribe Arayeo, to serve to my true creator.”

19

Cassiel followed Baato outside. Desperate, she clung on to him, refusing to let him go. He pushed her aside.

Cassiel: “Baato, please… you can’t abandon me! I am the creator!”

20

Baato: “You are no creator, Cassiel. Now I know that. No real creator would have sent the creator heiress away.”

And with that, he turned and walked away.

21

Cassiel watched his figure grow smaller and smaller in the distance. Her eyes were filled with tears, but she didn’t look away until he disappeared on the horizon. For she knew this was the last time she would see her one true love.

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.15 Villain Interlude (Part 1)

When Cassiel and Baato first arrived to Oasis Springs, all they had was each other. They couldn’t use any of Cassiel’s money, since that would give the police an idea of their whereabouts, so they had to start over with nothing.

2

The beginnings weren’t easy – there were days when they couldn’t shower and nights they had to spend on the bench.

3

Cassiel did not have the slightest clue how to live off the grid. Coming up with grandiose villain plans, experimenting with dark substances in the lab, those were her strengths. Catching something she could eat for dinner, however, was not.

4

Luckily Baato was a pro at survival, and was able to get them started nicely just through collecting.

5

He also built a little shed for the two of them, so they had somewhere to call home.

6

He soon managed to score himself a paid gig as a bartender in the local bar – the bar manager thought he was cute and she told him that if he managed to make one drink without smashing more than three glasses, the job was his.

7

Cassiel would usually join Baato during his shifts, and pick the pockets of unsuspecting bar patrons. That’s how she got the attention of the local crime gang. Before she knew it, she became the right hand to the boss.

8

Cassiel’s success in the criminal career allowed the twosome to upgrade their living situation significantly. They purchased an old abandoned science lab and renovated it to create a luxurious home.

Note: The house or its interior design are not my creation, it’s a heavily remodelled version of the GTW lab, redecorated and furnished by the talented Deligracy. It’s one of my all-time favourites to play in and I haven’t changed a thing. You can download this beautiful home here.

9

Their newfound wealth gave Baato an opportunity to explore a few different career paths, although his favourite way to spend time tending to his plants, his pride and joy, in the conservatory.

10

Whatever made Baato happy made Cassiel happy. He helped her through so much; her prison break and the initial lawn living in oasis Springs would have never been possible without him.

Their relationship has evolved over time as well, Cassiel didn’t really treat Baato as her subordinate anymore, they were equal partners.

11

Neither of them could have pictured this is what their lives would be, but here they were,  together and happy.

And then the news came.

12

Baato: “Cassiel, I need to tell you something. I’ve received a message from my old tribe. My name has been cleared. I am now allowed to return to serve tribe Arayeo.”

Cassiel nearly choked on her French toast. This couldn’t be real.

“So… what are you going to do?” she asked casually, trying not to sound too crushed.

13

Baato: “I really don’t know. It’s such a hard decision. The life you’ve given me is like nothing I’ve ever experienced, but what about honouring my duties with tribe Arayeo?

I feel devoted to them, but at the same time I feel devoted to you. How can I decide what tribe my loyalty should lie with, the old or the new?”

Cassiel forced a smile: “Well, it is a hard choice. Take all the time you need.”

She wondered if she could still play on their past and order him to stay. But she didn’t want to do that. She wanted him to want to stay.

14

Not even a day has passed when Cassiel found out she was pregnant. She didn’t know how it could have happened, they were always careful because of her hatred of children. Perhaps it was a sign.

Either way, she broke the news to Baato to as soon as possible. He needed to have all the information before he came to his final decision.

15

Baato: “That is amazing! You’re going to give birth to the strongest daughter, I am sure of it.”

Cassiel cringed at the thought of a daughter. Not that a son would be any better. She looked into Baato’s eyes and silently begged him to stay. It was horrible that she was going to deal with an annoying small creature already, but to loose Baato too? She could not imagine that.

The Bloomer Legacy: 3.14 Chell

Was this what giving birth felt like? Lilah was surprised. It was not unlike having to pee really badly, and then suddenly a poof of confetti exploded and baby Chell was with us.

2

Since Peter is a bit of a gaming geek, all of his kids will be named after characters from games (MY favourite games, because I’m selfish like that). His first born got her name from the silent protagonist of Portal, test subject #1498, also known as Chell.

3

The couple celebrated their adult birthday modestly. Having become parents, they no longer felt like young adults anymore, so they didn’t feel like a party to celebrate a transition was necessary.

4

Instead, they focused all of their attention on their baby girl, taking naps in turns to keep going.

5

Peter aged rather gracefully. With Isaac gone, it is now your job to be the stud of the family, Peter, so don’t let me down.

6

Chells’s infancy passed quickly, with both parents either catering to the baby’s needs or writing.

7

They wondered what their little girl would grow up to be like. Well, the wait is over.

8

Chell grew up into the cutest little aspiring whiz kid – the first Bloomer child to roll this aspiration. She is also an art lover, perhaps she got that from her aunt Erica?

You are adorable… but you’re not going to build Newcrest a gym, are you?

9

Peter: “You are perfect the way you are, Chell. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.”

10

Lilah has the day off today, so she will be spending Chell’s first day of childhood with her. First, they read one of Peter’s books from the Captain Duckhorse series.

11

And then they play a few rounds of chess. Chell will be able to beat Lilah in no time!

12

When Peter comes home from work, he helps his daughter with her homework, so that she’s ready for her first day of school. But that’s not going to happen all that soon, since the weekend is just about to begin.

13

The family gets up extra early on Saturday and have their breakfast in a bit of a hurry. Peter and Lilah have a surprise for Chell.

14

They are going away for a weekend trip! Chell can barely contain her excitement.

15

But when she finds out that they will be staying in a tree house, the whole trip just gets a whole lot better.

Note: The awesome tree house was built by no other than The Sim Supply. You can download yours here.
